Busy week behind the scenes here at the Scotch Colony! Folks have been checking off items on the “to do list” at a furious pace in anticipation of Fest140 next weekend Aug. 23-25. Posters have been printed and are on display at many of our local friendly businesses (thank you to them!) Our Scotch Colony jewelry stock has been replenished and now includes a lovely keychain which Carolyn Smith will be happy to show you. More t-shirts were ordered and Cari picked them up in Moncton (thanks to Maritime Cresting for their speedy production!) Melville United Church is getting a special sprucing up to be ready for our visitors. Kincardine School has been swept out to be ready to receive its former pupils. Church bulletins are ready (thanks to John Moses.) Festival programs have been composed, typed, and printed (thanks to Merritt Press). Food plans are finalized for lunch and supper (thank you UCW and Allison) and snacks (thanks, DunRoamin’ Stray-Rescue.) See our Google Map for locations. Don’t forget a quilt to show, sunglasses, sunscreen, folding chair, hat, fly dope, musical instrument for the Friday jam, rain gear in case! Highland dance beginner workshop at the Hall – 10:30 – 11:30. We are keeping our eye on the weather forecast, praying for great weather and few flies, (long-term forecast looks good) and looking forward to seeing YOU there!!!

I hope you have an amazing weekend.
It is so great to know that the Colony folk are keeping up the best of the Scottish heritage in those hills. I had an unforgettable, inspiring summer with you as the United Church student minister in 1969. Good times indeed. (Barclays, Farquhars, Andersons, Smiths, Demerchants, Girvans, Warmans, Hargroves, Phillips, Morotns, Wartons, Springers, and so many, many, others.)
