The round dots are lot numbers and names from the Scotch Colony Lot Map (Cadastral) (after 1884?). I believe this map shows the original Crown Land Grants to the Scottish settlers. Here are these same lot maps overlayed on Google Maps.
Using the map legend, you can turn off layers/sets of points to reduce the clutter. (see upper left of map window)
